It getting the time of year where you should be collecting Pine Cones. Why is that? These little babies are a great fire starter. I gather the smaller ones that fall off of the pine tree. Dry them out and they will start to spread apart / open up. Once they do that, I wrap lint from my dryer down deep inside. When it is time to light, start the lint. This catches the Pine Cone on fire. Put this burning pine cone in your fire bundle and you are in business. I can even light the lint with a Magnesium fire starter. Pine Cones burn very hot. This will get your fire going.
